FAQs

– What should I wear?

Thai Bodywork is performed clothed on a comfortable firm mat on the floor. For this reason wearing or bringing along with you comfortable, non-synthetic clothes (material that isn’t slippery) which allow you to move freely are preferred. Layers are great to adapt for temperature/different types of techniques. For example; long pants without zippers/snaps and long sleeved shirts without hoods are ideal, as well as tank tops/ t-shirts underneath. If you will be receiving an herbal steam ball treatment, wear dark clothes that won’t stain as the medicinal herbs create a tea of sorts which could stain light colored clothing. Please refrain from wearing strong scented toiletries/perfume/cologne/essential oils.

– Should I eat something before arriving?

Thai Bodywork is often more active than traditional western modalities, but the treatments also often run longer too, and sometimes abdominal work is indicated (within client comfort). For this reason it is a good idea to have a snack/ light meal before your session, but nothing too heavy.

– Is Thai bodywork painful?

It is always my intention to work with your body, not against it. In addition to occasional check-ins I initiate, I encourage/request that you speak up if anything is painful or uncomfortable. The body cannot allow trust and release when it is in fight, flight or freeze mode.

– If I feel like I’m coming down with something or I know that I’m sick, should I reschedule my session?

Yes. If you are not feeling well, you need to reschedule. In addition to helping keep our community healthy, you will benefit much more by resting at home than getting a treatment. Often getting bodywork when sick can make you feel even worse – it’s too much imput for a body whose reserves are focused on fighting something off. This is a two way street — if I am sick, I will also reschedule our appointment and avoid passing my bug onto you and practice giving my body the rest it needs.
